UV curing dries inks, coatings, adhesives and other UV sensitive materials through polymerization instead of evaporation. Traditionally, mercury-based UV curing lamps have been utilized for curing, but now the more energy efficient and environmentally friendly UV LED technology has proven a superior alternative. Unlike mercury lamps, LED curing technology uses semiconductor-based Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to project ultraviolet (UV) light when an electric current is passed through them.
